SCU:BA (or SCUBA without the colon) stands for Summer Coding @ UChicago: Builders Academy.
We are excited to be back in the summer of 2024 for another summer of learning!
Students might enjoy working through this book, which contains colorful exercises with clear instructions and source code: Create Graphical User Interfaces with Python by Laura Sach and Martin O'Hanlon. (The authors make the book available for free online at their site.)
The computers we are using this summer are the following model: Dell Inspiron 15 3520. The service manual is here in case you need it for repairs, etc.
Our resources page includes assets for student projects, such as graphics.
For code skeletons, follow this link to scaffolding. The platformer project has its own page, as does the networking project, as does the cooking project.
You can follow this link to the Pygame Docs.
Here is a journal of what we've been doing in class, day by day:

UChicago Hillel, Code Your Dreams, and the University of Chicago Department of Computer Science partner together to offer SCUBA programs in the summer.
SCU:BA is made possible by a grant from the Successful Pathways from School to Work initiative of the University of Chicago, funded by the Hymen Milgrom Supporting Organization.
